Kids aged 8-10 enter the Green stage with full court size, transition-balls and more advanced rally and stroke work — preparing them for regular tennis.
At this stage, players are ready to bring everything they’ve learned onto a full-sized court. The Progressive (Green) program helps young athletes build consistency, strategy, and confidence as they transition toward playing standard tennis.
This program is the third and final step in the progressive ball curriculum for beginner, intermediate and advanced players that still use lower-compression balls but now are training on a full-size court. These balls are still a bit slower and softer than standard yellow balls, allowing players to continue developing their technique, improve consistency with strokes, learn court strategy, and prepare for playing with regular balls. The focus is on refining skills like rallying, serving, and match play on a full court.
Guided by certified coaches, players learn how to combine precision with movement — and how to think one step ahead on every shot. It’s a confident leap toward real match play, where the fundamentals come together and the game starts to feel like their own.
Green Ball: Full size court. 25-26 inch racquet. 25% slower ball. Ages 8-10
Green Ball Beginner:
This program introduces new players to the game of tennis on a full-sized court using low-compression balls. The curriculum focuses on fundamental strokes like forehand, backhand, net play, serve and return, alongside movement, balance, and hand-eye coordination. Lessons include a warm-up, skill-building drills, an introduction to rallying and an emphasis on fun!
Green Ball Intermediate:
This program is for players who have advanced their basic skills and are ready to transition to a more competitive setting. The classes focus on refining strokes, learning to control height and depth in their shots, creating different spins on the ball and introducing some tactical awareness. There is much more rallying with the coach and some with other players. A little bit of point play is also incorporated into the lessons.
Green Ball +:
This follow-up to green intermediate also uses a low-compression transition ball. Players will learn to rally with improved direction and height control, serve with better power, consistency and different spins, return serves with more targeted objectives and learn about the transition/approach to the net. More match play (singles and doubles) tactics and strategies of the game are also introduced. Tournament play is recommended (In house or through the OTA).
