For kids aged 7-9, this Orange-ball level bridges the basics and the full game through ¾ courts, modified balls and games that build direction, depth and net play.
As young players grow, their coordination, focus, and understanding of the game begin to take shape. The Progressive (Orange) program helps them take that next exciting step — developing real rallies, movement, and strategy on court in a way that still feels fun and rewarding.
Orange ball tennis is played on a ¾ size court with a low-compression ball. In the beginner groups players learn how to serve, rally, score and play at the net. As they progress and develop their skills more rallying and point play will be incorporated. Rules of play and good sport behaviors are also introduced.
Our certified coaches emphasize progress over perfection, helping kids understand not just how to hit, but how to play. Every class keeps them active, social, and motivated — the perfect balance between challenge and encouragement.
Orange Ball: ¾ Court Tennis. 23-25 inch racquet. 50% slower ball. Ages 7-9.
Orange Beginner:
The program begins with many Red Ball activities as review/reinforcement. In Orange Ball, the Red Ball activities should be done from service line to service line but with an orange ball instead. Lots of focus is placed on proper grips, swing technique and feeding from the coach.
Orange Intermediate:
Players are now introduced to more rally situations. More emphasis is placed on movement and the ability to identify and adjust to a ball. A greater part of the tennis court is used at this level therefore more footwork patterns are also added.
Orange Ball +:
Players learn to maintain a rally when receiving more challenging shots, serve with improved placement, approach the net, and place volleys. More specific footwork techniques are also shown for better balance and positioning to the ball.
