Designed for children ages 4-7, this Red-ball stage uses smaller courts, lighter balls and simple games so kids build skills, coordination and confidence from day one.
Every player starts somewhere — and the best beginnings are the ones that feel fun. The Progressive (Red) program gives young children the perfect introduction to tennis in an environment designed for early success and big smiles.
This program introduces the foundational skills of tennis with an oversized low compression ball on a smaller court. Players learn the basics of how to start making a connection between the racquet and the ball. Grips, body positioning, tennis terminology and court awareness are introduced and shown. They do this by learning about timing, space and depth perception.
Led by certified coaches who understand how to teach movement through play, our approach builds confidence as much as coordination. Each session keeps kids active, engaged, and proud of what they’re learning — the kind of start that keeps them coming back.
Red Ball: ½ Court Tennis. 17-21 inch racquets. Low compression oversized tennis ball or foam ball. Ages 4-7.
Red Ball Beginner:
Players are introduced to tennis in a fun and educational way. Lots of games and drills working on hand-eye coordination, spacing, timing and depth perception are incorporated into the lessons. The use of big targets and fun group challenges are part of the curriculum as well.
Red Ball Intermediate:
The players will begin to rally, serve and gain some net play skills along with activities that build tennis specific movement and coordination. Rules of play and good sport behaviors are also introduced.
Red Ball +:
This follow-up to Red Ball intermediate further refines the rally, serve, and net play skills. Players start to learn more about rules and scoring and begin to compete on a Red Court with oversized low-compression balls.
